Conversation with Neena Randhawa

Neena Randhawa, the Director of Women’s Programs and Initiatives at the Progressive Intercultural Community Services (PICS), Vancouver,Surrey , engages in heartwarming and deeply grounding conversations that resonate with the core of human experiences. Her dedication extends to the Harmony House Second Stage Transition House Program, where she supports immigrant women and children escaping domestic violence in Vancouver and Surrey, British Columbia.

With a profound commitment to empowering the community, Neena secured funding to establish poverty law outreach and advocacy programs. Drawing from her extensive background in trauma-informed counselling and clinical expertise in Addiction and Mental Health, spanning over three decades, she tirelessly aids women facing diverse barriers.

One of Neena's transformative contributions is the inception of the SAHAS Helpline, a beacon of support for those in distress. This confidential, multilingual phone service offers immediate emotional support and crisis intervention, reflecting Neena's belief in seeking help promptly.

Neena advocates for the courage to voice concerns and seek assistance before situations escalate. She passionately urges women, especially young individuals navigating daily challenges, to vocalize their struggles. Her advice emphasizes recognizing personal triggers affecting one's health and seeking aid when needed. Neena firmly believes that knowledge empowers—encouraging everyone to be informed, aware, and united in community support.

Central to her ethos is rejecting a judgmental attitude and understanding that such negativity hampers collective progress. Neena champions a culture of understanding, sharing, and mutual support, recognizing that uplifting others uplifts us all.

Spirituality is not about religion; it connects yourself with your power within; it is your strength!
